Our Rube Goldberg machine, which is the result of our hard work in the past month. A Rube Goldberg machine is a machine that takes a simple task and makes a very complicated and unproductive machine to accomplish that simple step. We began with creating a theme and drafting a blueprint. We then worked very had to transform our blueprint into real work. This did not happen without any complications however, about half way through our total build time, we had the inclination to change our theme. This put some real pressure on us to complete the project and incorporate a new theme. It made more sense in the end as we were able to make the theme reflect in the steps of our machine. As you can tell by our half design we were seeking function over fashion...Mostly. You can still see some aesthetics presented on our board.
REFLECTION- Overall, I believe that our group was fairly successful. We accomplished our task however we could have done it more thoroughly. Some things we could worked on are time management, being confident and firm in our ideas, and a little bit of collaboration. First with time management, we kept on planning everything so perfectly that we didn't have much time to actually do what we planned. Also when we planning we needed to be confident with our designs and ideas. We decided to switch themes about half way through. This caused us to be even more pressed for time. Lastly, our teamwork was pretty good for just being introduced to each other. However, some of us had some weaknesses that needed help to be corrected, including some shy people who didn't feel comfortable sharing their ideas. This kept a lot of ideas hidden until it was too late to incorporate. In addiction to a personal reflection, i believe that we all learned the importance of running your machine to test its frequency of completion. We didn't test enough which left many of our steps on the fence of working. This caused our machine to not work successfully many times. Excluding that we felt pretty good about our work.
